What is Engineered Timber?

Engineered Timber flooring is a pre-coated, manufactured product with a 0.68mm - 4mm top layer of solid timber bonded over layers of other timbers. This not only provides additional stability but also maintains all the appearance characteristics associated with solid timber flooring.

Most engineered timbers can be sanded and recoated like traditional timber floors.

Styles

Sourced from sustainably-managed forests, engineered timber is available in an extensive range of beautiful Australian hardwood and high quality imported species.

Engineered timber is availabe in a range of colour variations and characteristics, however, depending on milling availability all types are not always available.

Types of Installation

Installation may take anywhere between 1 to 5 days to complete, depending on the size of the flooring area. There are two key types of installation:

Direct Stick

With this process the engineered timber is adhered directly to the sub-floor. It is particularly suitable for concrete floors and new homes where the floor is level and clean.

Floating

The engineered floor is installed on an acoustic foam underlay over suitable sub-floors. This process is useful in older timber homes or where the sub-floor is uneven and rough.

This type of floor can be installed over other floor coverings as long as they have been securely laid. It is important to have of our professionals visit at your home to determine the suitability of any sub-floor.
